Karen Plant has a Master’s of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor as well as a Gottman Method Couple's Counseling Level 3 trained therapist. She is also certified in Adult and Adolescent ADHD Diagnosis and Treatment. Karen was clinically trained by Albert Ellis the founder of REBT and uses cognitive behavioral therapy in sessions with her clients.

 

As a retired first responder, Ms. Plant experienced danger, physical violence, trauma and has made life and death decisions. She helped other first responders deal with critical incidents, the resulting depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and helplessness they experienced. She also assisted them in developing psychological and lifestyle skills to help in coping with the sustained stress of their jobs.

Karen Plant also worked several years with at-risk juveniles and did family counseling using a variety of therapeutic approaches. Karen has completed level three of the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy training. Using the Gottman Method, she is able to address your problems with research-based interventions and assessments.

Adding a personalized touch to her therapy, she will identify problem areas in your relationship, help you improve verbal communication, teach you how to increase affection, assist in removing barriers to conflict resolution, help you develop conflict management, and create a more successful, fulfilling, and loving relationship.

 

Although trained in several proven counseling methods such as Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy, Ms. Plant uses flexible approaches to treatment. Each person has different problems, and Karen creates a treatment plan in a cooperative effort with her clients based on individual needs and goals.

 

Ms. Plant has experience with depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, PTSD, trauma, and personality disorders. Karen has dedicated her life to helping people, and she can help you learn to live a happier, more well-adjusted life with compassion, empathy, and understanding.
